Converita !!

OK… i iam bloggin after a reaaaaaaaly long time…. sidd was telling “continue ur blog da… it was going on interesting…!!” …. so here i go again….
Converita!! the moment i heard this word for the first time….in the clg notice brd, i thought may be its some word synonymous to EUREKA !! and later i dreamt this should be the name of some damn gud lookin gal in that dept !!:P…. and this ones the IT tech symp. @SSN…on 13th september, 2006 !! ( and i still donno wot that word means )
We…. decided to bunk the college that day as usual and were eager to get the prize as usual!!
We had checked the bus timings from the college website… and all other guys were to start off from the college while i would be boarding from near my house… Thou i were in the bus stop well before the timing of the bus… i was waiting, waitin., waiti.., wait…, wai…., wa….., w……, and i lost hope.. and asked the gal who was standin beside me whether SSN bus would come in that stopin…. she said “The bus just went past a minute b4!! “…. I didnt know how to respond… I said.. “oh, thanks !!”( nyway cudnt hide my stupidity thatway )….I thought then how i could hv missed the bus while i was just staring at the vehicles without break..hmm… then i decided to break the thought… and decided the follow the travel instructions given in the website for Govt. bus. boarders… (luckily i had read it…)
As per that.. i boarded some bus to go to kalavakkam… and then from there i took some van to get tot he college… I entered the campus to see that there were not much trees to be spotted… infact it was kinda desert…. (it was noon by then)… i made my way to the hall.. for inauguration..
It was a very cheerful crowd filling the audi. The intro for all the events was the spotlight… some of them i remember r….
1. Vijaykant was standing in the stage and was giving speech… he was telling things like.. “A computer has a monitor, cpu, mouse…. blah blah…”(edited clip of Gap10!!)…. That was the intro for paper presentation…!!
2. Vijaykant was sittin in front of the computer…… he looked very serious….. the monitor showed him debugging some code…. he compiles it to find too many errors!! (ahhhh!!)… Gap10 did not lose hope…. He was so involved and devoted… his eyes turn red….!! Suddenly… he gets enlightened….he makes all the lines in the program as comments… and compiles the code…. (hurrah…. the code compiles succesfully !!) and Gap10 gives a proud, winning Smile…!!!! That one was the into for debugging contest!! — LOLZ…

The debugging event was late in the afternoon… so we thot… we would listen to Paper Presentation… so that we cud get some idea of wot it is…
To our ultimate regret, we found the ppl coming and presenting some papers on very generalized topics and they had not done ny kinda research … they had done gud home-work by mugging stuffs from net… and it was DAMN mokkai… so we got ourself out of da hall… to attend some other events…
It was time for debugging!!!

This sem seems to be much better!!
Hey… i have already won a couple of programming contests… isnt that gr8!!
well… the first one was at SVCE… and i would say that the questions asked in
the finals was ultimately out of my scope!! this is the first contest we attended in our 2nd yr…
and we came first in this.. wow…. we got Rs.750 as prize..!!
but luckily Siddharth (da Topper) was able to handle it… so we ultimately won that..
Day b4 Yesterday i attended… Enigma..Our intra-college festival organised by the computer society of MIT (http://cs-mit.org/) …Though myself and Srivaths (aka DR) managed to come 2nd in the prelims.. We flopped in the finals… i would say due to my nervousness…. tho i did everything correctly early… swapped 0&1 in the return value of a function which is very important… but Sidd managed to come first..!!
Happy bout that… gave us treat!!
Today… we cut our class and went to Xaphon(a mythological character they say!!) at Vellammal Engg.. College… My-self and Sidd were a Team once again… we Came second during the prelims!! some team from SSN managed to come first…. The result was same in the finals with that team coming first and we were 2nd….The finals was very interesting wid the question being to code for the computer…. They were evaluated by playing against each other… kinda Cooool right!! pretty much satisfied wid the prize got Rs.750 once again!!
Day after Tommrow its Targe Converita at SSN!!

NSO Camp !!

This shd possibly be the first camp in ma life….
There r some important things i feel i have learnt during my camp!
U can stay mentally fit only if u stay physically fit !! I learnt it from the way i slept during my camp… Sleeping was like something which never happened …..
After u wake up in the morning (around 5.30) , u feel ur mind so fresh to do stuff….(just the mind… coz the body wont be in any condtion to say like that) …..
we will go round the college for a couple of slow runs ……The beauty of our college during that early morning was simply GR8….hard to explain it wid the vocabulary i know..!!
well do warm ups.. and start playing shuttle …The coach will teach us some new tricks and proper methods of doing stuff…(which we r supposed to follow)
At around 8 .,,,, we go to the mess… to have Fooooood!!
My apetite increased a lot.. during this camp…. i ate to my satisfaction and then we go to our room… take the bucket and go to the bathroom and finish off things….
come back and ull find that its time for the next session at 10.00..
Ull be taught one of these thing…during that session…
* Yoga
* Aerobics
* First Aid
* Kundalini Yoga & Kaya Kalpa
I shd say all of them was pretty useful i learned something new in every one of them….
All of them r meant for us to regularly practice in our house!!
At 12.00 all roads(i mean the only road !!) lead to da Mess once again….
WoW…We then feel ourself free till 4.00…..
U can then find most of us in our dreams……
We used to play Chess during that time…it was Fun
The 4.00 session is a replica of the morning session….but for the fact that we dont leave to canteen after its over….
We continue to play till around 8.00….after which we go to…..where else?? To da mess…!!
after that…. we head to our rooms….We did not miss da FIFA wid a TV kept at the new hostel…..
during the Ghana Vs Brazil match….
To everyones surprise… there was more Ghana supporters…..
cheering up their favourites……by singing Ghana Songs!! lolz!!
we used to chit-chat upto 11.00 or even later… then gradually go to sleep…..
Whether the next day is saturday or sunday….There is no change to our shedule….the ssame things go on……until the 10th day!!
We had culturals after the camp-fire…
It was very nice ….and thus my unforgettable NSO camp came to a conclusion….

Reservation Rules !!

So its been a long time ha !!
Well today My mind is full of thinking bout this reservation issue ! I have myself been a prey to this largely during my college admissions Being in TamilNadu and hav to face this 69% reservation….Its gr8 that u coudnt get a opportunity like that elsewhere in the country..!
So u see I had to compete wid all brainy ppl for that lesser than 31%. seats that which will also be used for physically handicapped and army personnel..
So I will say It is like making the target of an archer smaller in size so that its difficult for him. But in our society i would say this target shrinking had made the elite more elite. And the reservation is in no way helping those who are poor but is acting as a short cut for those ppl who say they r backward ( but r in no way backward ) to achieve gud position with comparative lower effort… INJUSTICE ! X-(

My Enthu !

    I thk today i should talk about my enthu. I thk i have lot of enthu(in fact its overflowing). The vessels not big enough to keep. The vessel here refers to my brain. I can put it rather this way. There r lot of stones inside that vessel and if i manage to get rid of all of them HULA!
The vessel became big!! The stones are my laziness.
So hope I get rid of them soon.

Great Project to Start !?

    I dont remember exactly how it all started… but i became very involved in various logics of solving of solving a sudoku… and about  how the various logics can be implemented using a computer. I even discussed it with my friends…

One fine moment, it dawned on me, y not do it as my PDS project !!

The time i spent later on the project is one of most interesting and was fun. I was using the little knowledge i had in programming C  (Yep, i Was a Bio Student in School and hv just learnt basics of c programming in my first semester of my college..)  to simulate wot i had in mind for solving a sudoku…  I was able to learn lot.. learnt how to code big stuffs, how to debug, and many things… I learned later from Varun Snr that  i hv implemented backtracking to solve it. I named it ‘trial and error’ technique b4..  and i hd also created a special data-structure for the purpose… desc follows:

The data structure is a tree.. with each NODE having the sudoku 9*9 grid as a data member, In addition it had a NODE** which can be made to point to a dynamically allocated ‘n’ NODE*. Each of these ‘n’ NODE* points to the possible board positions after making an assumption on the current node… I backtrack when i find there can be no assumptions made and the grid is incomplete… if the grid is complete then thats the solution grid.  :)…

Not to forget the inteface part…  I spent day and night to build interface for the sudoku solver using GLADE inteface designer

This is the first step in my coding career !!

3) or should i do my Digital Project
4) When am i gonna read the whole book for all the subjects (i hav always dreamt lik that)
I guess i will just do what I am going to do !!
